Has anyone tried to do handprint ornaments of their DC?
I've heard of using salt dough for this, but have no experience whatsoever with it.
Any suggestions? I'm not stuck on using salt dough, so if you have other ideas I'm all 'ears'!
Thanks, Melody

My little bro made me a heart shaped ornament when he was in preschool..It has craked and I had to glue it back together....it now sits in a velvet lined jewelry box I would try something else before salt dough.

I posted this in a thread of Carrie's a while ago... we did handprint ornaments with Crayola Model Magic for the baby's first Christmas. It's lightweight and very easy to work with.... and it air-dries. It won't break when dropped or cracked while drying.
We used the white kind and painted them red or green, leaving the handprint white (we made several to give as gifts) and then we got a silver paint marker to write the date on the back.
We got all the supplies at Michaels. It comes in a few other colors... maybe yellow, red, blue, and green?
I've never had good luck having salt dough stuff come out looking nice... it always cracks or turns pasty looking or something. It doesn't keep well either... my mother bought some really nice dough ornaments at a craft fair once but one summer it got really hot in the attic and they were all destroyed.

We made salt dough ornaments in 2000. We made a LOT. Most of ours are still good. BUT they aren't as special as a handprint so I'd probably try something else for that.
