... that crafting somehow both appeals to and plagues the life out of. I am practically orgasmic when I can make things fit together and turn out perfectly. #bd# It drives me insane when things don't work out. ## Right now I am working on a sequined felt christmas stocking that I purchased in a pre-children post-Christmas Herschnerr's catalog crafting binge. It has a snowman on it and I am determined to finish it because the tadpole LOVES snowmen. But I can't for the life of me fit all the pieces so all the pattern lines are hidden and it's driving me mad!!! #banghead# I'm torm between tossing it out to get the guilt off my conscience and finishing it because he will be so happy to see it. I have made a vow that if/when we move next, no unfinished projects can make the move with us. I've got a lot of projects to work through... #bag#

I say try to finish it!
Of course this is coming from the woman who's nephew's cross stitch growth chart isn't yet finished. It was supposed to be a shower gift before he was born. He'll be 16 in June. #bag#

When I'm working on a cross stitch and I realize that one stich is off (mis counted, misplaced, wrong color whatever) I am always tempted to undo the entire area to fix it. I usually convince myself that I wouldn't have enough floss to redo it (that's usually my biggest fear, running out of floss even though I always end up with a ton extra) so I leave it as is and just swear at myself for a few days about how it's totally ruined. LOL

Oh... right now I think I'll probably finish it eventually. It's just ANNOYING. I got the pieces to fit right that were driving me crazy when I posted this. I'm working on the snowman's scarf and you have to cut out green pieces for the background and embroider white lines on them and attach yellow pieces w/ sequins. I was trying to attach the yellow pieces without doing the embroider first so it wasn't clear to me that the yellow pieces only covered TWO of the guidelines on the green felt - one would be covered in white thread. I was trying to center the yellow pieces over 3 guidelines and it wasn't working. I forgot to mention that I also have a very MALE side that has difficulty with directions. This stupid thing has like 86 steps to put it together - ugh, I just went and looked, make that 101 steps! - and that's toooooo many for me. I opened this all up for the 'pole's very first Christmas but it was too much for me with new mommy shrunken brain syndrome (nmsbs). Or so I thought. Apparently it's just too much for ME, period. When I got everything out again the other night determined to figure it out and do it right, I almost threw up at the number of steps and instructions. But I've been sort of following them... now and then I get impatient and try to skip ahead though, LOL. Leann I also have a running out of floss phobia! It drives me nuts how kits give you the instructions to use TWO strands. I think with anything finer than 18 ct Aida cloth 2 threads looks skimpy and cheap. So I always worry if I use 3 strands I will run out of floss. I have been known to buy cross stitch kits but then buy all new DMC floss to use from the start just because I want to be sure I have enough floss.

I have thought about doing that!! I told myself it woudl be crazy so I haven't...but now that I know I'm not the only one maybe I will. When I'm working on a project I will use every last centimeter of floss until if I make one more sticth it'll pull out of the needle and I'll never be able to run it under some stitches to finish it off. This project I just did for my mom I ended up with so much left over I could probably make a second one! LOL

Yeah... I will stitch to the point where I have to re-thread the needle after every jab because the thread is too short to leave it threaded. Heh.
